RAHIMA KHATUN – WEST BENGAL
Rahima Khatun, BMMA Convener of West Bengal is also the secretary of Nari –O- Sishu Kalyan Kendra, Howrah. She is an M.A, B.Ed from Calcutta University. As a social activist she is working since 1983 and has acquired wide ranging experience and working skills in the following the areas: Self- Help Groups(SHGs), women’s development, awareness generation, sensitization, motivation and organization of women, management of various women’s programs including income generation activities.
She has done a study on changing status of Muslim women in Panchayati Raj in West Bengal supported by Government of India Ministry of Panchayati Raj. She has also worked on issues of adolescent girl’s and child health care, domestic violence, legal aid to women, women and child rights. She is also a member of Child Welfare Committee, Howrah District, Government of West Bengal.
She has also attending national and international seminars like the 4th World Women Conference of Beijing-1995, Fifth Asian Development Forum, Bangkok, Thailand, organized by ANGOC, Philippines, study visit to Sweden, Stockholm, participated in the International Visitor Leadership program on Best Practices in NGO Management, sponsored by U.S.A Government and World Social forum, Mumbai, Maharashtra.
Rahima Khatun is a recipient of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Award 2011, West Bengal Madrasha Siksha Parsad Government of West Bengal.
